Family support at home

Key term: . We support families, children and young people in crises or particularly difficult situations – where they live. Together we strengthen what is already there and find new ways forward through talking.

What we actually do

We support you …

  • as educational support (Erziehungsbeistand): a dedicated professional supports your child or teenager with problems in the family, at school or with friends
  • with social education family support (Sozialpädagogische Familienhilfe): we support the whole family with parenting, everyday life, conflicts and dealing with the authorities
  • with crisis counselling to get your bearings and to clarify whether further support is needed
  • in using existing strengths and finding new ways to act

Questions about this service

What you should know beforehand

Educational support (Erziehungsbeistand) is aimed mainly at the child or young person themselves. Social education family support (Sozialpädagogische Familienhilfe) supports the whole family. We work out together with you and the youth welfare office which support is right.

You apply for support with upbringing (Hilfe zur Erziehung) at the youth welfare office (Jugendamt). The goals and scope are set in the care planning meeting (Hilfeplangespräch). You can say there that you would like us to support you.

Call our 24-hour on-call service. We offer crisis counselling to help you get your bearings and work out with you how things can go on. If there is a risk to life or limb, dial 112.

Next step
